Stridle Privacy Policy
Pocketstar Labs · Last updated 22 October 2026
The short version
- Stridle reads your step count from Apple Health to unlock guesses. It never writes to Health.
- Your step counts never leave your iPhone. Your games stay on your devices and in your own iCloud. We never receive either.
- There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no accounts.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Who we are
Stridle is made by Johannes Cleve, trading as Pocketstar Labs, based in Belgium. If you have any question about this policy or your data, write to support@pocketstarlabs.com.
Step data from Apple Health
With your permission, Stridle reads your step count from Apple Health. It uses it to:
- unlock guesses (1,000 steps = 1 guess),
- show your steps on the game screen and in the widgets,
- work out your statistics and badges, such as total steps and your best day.
Stridle asks only for permission to read step count. It never writes anything to Health and doesn't read any other Health data. Step data is never used for advertising or sold, and is never shared with anyone else.
You can turn off Stridle's access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps → Stridle, or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Your games and settings
Stridle saves your guesses, results, streaks, step totals for each day you play, and your settings. This is stored on your iPhone, in a space it shares with the Stridle widgets so they can show your progress.
If iCloud is turned on, Stridle also keeps a copy of your game history (your guesses and results) in your own iCloud account, so it follows you to a new iPhone. Step counts are left out of that copy: they're never stored in iCloud and stay only on the iPhone that counted them. That copy is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple's privacy policy. We can't access it.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Stridle can tell you when a new guess unlocks and remind you in the evening. These notifications are scheduled on your iPhone. We don't run a server that sends them and don't collect a device token.
Purchases
Any purchases in Stridle are processed by Apple through the App Store. Stridle only checks with the App Store whether you have an active purchase. We never receive your name, Apple Account or payment details.
Sharing your results
When you tap Share, Stridle creates an image of your board as colored squares, without the letters, along with a short line of text. Together they show your puzzle number, your number of guesses and, for the daily puzzle, your steps that day and your streak. It goes only where you choose to send it.
When you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. If you use the email link in the app, it adds your Stridle and iOS version numbers to help with bug reports. We use this only to reply to you, and we delete it when it's no longer needed for that.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking services, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
Children
Stridle is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and other privacy laws, you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice, the only personal data we may hold is email you've sent us. Write to support@pocketstarlabs.com and we'll take care of it.
To delete everything Stridle stores on your device, delete the app. To remove the iCloud copy, go to iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage and delete Stridle's data, or turn off iCloud for Stridle.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Belgium, that's the Data Protection Authority.
Changes to this policy
If Stridle starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. For a significant change, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
